I was driving on Cicero yesterday going south towards Oak Park when I notice the driver next to me drinking a Miller Lit. I couldn’t believe it and I had to take a double look and sure enough there was also a car seat in the back. I wasn’t sure if he had a baby in the car seat or not, but the fact that he was drinking and driving got me pissed. For does of you that don’t know me I’m very anti drinking. I hate the smell, and I hate going to clubs and such simply because I think it’s stupid how people act when they are drunk. I hate the fact that people will have to drink or do drugs when they need to escape who they are in life. There are so many other productive things someone can do to escape reality. But let me get back to the issue about the drunk driver. I ignored the driver for a couple of minutes in fact I told my self that I was going to drive faster so that I wouldn’t be next to him. But I couldn’t stop thinking about him. What if he got into an accident and killed somebody simply because I didn’t act to do something. I thought about all my nieces and nephews (some are starting to drive), and how I would feel if they got into an accident because of that punk. I decided to call the police and report him. I took down his plate numbers and gave them the description to the operator over the phone. I don’t know if they were able to stop him, but I at least feel good that I changed somebody’s life. It only took me a couple of minutes to call the police, and a small act to change a life.
